Hello, world!

I know, it’s a terrible title.  I’m sorry.  I’ve always been terrible at titles!

Things are getting very exciting around my house these days.  I mean, apart from the Jabba the Hutt on the front porch.  (The stakes and ropes that were supposed to be included in his box were not actually included, so he’s currently got one arm around the rocking chair and is hanging out where the wind can’t blow him away.  Turns out desert slugs are surprisingly light and aerodynamic.)

Mostly, I keep finding things that need doing before I can do the things that I already knew needing doing.  In order to include a link for a newsletter, one must first create the account for the newsletter mailing system.  And an email address for that newsletter.  And an avatar for the email address.  And then figure out how to embed the sign-up form into the website.  (Still working on that.  It’s a clickable link, for now.)

For a writer… I’m very good at procrastination.  See how well I’ve procrastinated actually writing the first blog post?  And here I am, with everything in place, and more or less ready to go (and I finally figured out how to use my own image at the top of the screen!)… and I have no idea what to write!

Ah, Writer’s Block.  So glad you could drop by.  Here, I’ll just make you a cup of tea and maybe a plate of the egg nog cookies I’m procrastinating from making.

Publishing a book is definitely an educational experience – especially when you’re a bit of a perfectionist like me.  I mean – trust me, my house is not a showcase, and this morning I found the baby chewing on his older brother’s paintbrush (watercolors, he cleaned up fine but I bet the diapers will be fabulous) – but I’d like to be able to look back on my efforts here in a few years and not cringe too much.

(I’m sure I’ll cringe at this post, though.)

There’s just so much to do!  Forget the holidays, I still have final edits to make on The Country Omega, the first book of the Downing Series, and then I have to make sure it’s formatted and ready to go on Kindle.  I still need to finish writing the second part of the series, The Country Alpha (and maybe think of a better title).  It’s over half-done, and I can’t wait to get to the rest of the story.

And I have the tiniest germ of an idea for another series entirely.  I just need to find the time to write it!

But in the meantime… all systems go here, and this post is the last piece of the puzzle.  I can’t wait to share The Country Omega with all of you – I hope you love Ethan and Antonio as much as I’ve grown to love them the last few months.

The Country Omega is set for release on Amazon Kindle in January 2016.  Learn more about it here.

  1. This is so exciting! I’m so happy for you (about the book publishing, not the watercolor diapers), and look forward to reading it!
